A decade after dominating the charts with Fancy and Black Widow, Iggy Azalea is pulling back the curtain on the highs, lows, and controversies that defined her career — and she isn’t holding back.

In a candid interview with NBC News, the Australian-born rapper addressed some of the biggest scandals she’s faced, including accusations of cultural appropriation and her alleged use of a “blaccent.” Iggy admitted that in her early 20s, she was caught in the middle of heated political and cultural conversations she didn’t fully understand.

“I said things that I shouldn’t have said in retrospect,” she confessed. “It was just a bad perfect storm… I think sometimes I just regret having an opinion at all because it wasn’t necessarily my place to have an opinion.”

Iggy’s rapid rise — becoming the first artist since The Beatles to debut at No. 1 and 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 — was quickly followed by an equally fast fall from grace. She recalled being embraced in private by fellow artists while being shunned in public. “I was only welcome in secret,” she said. “Over time I just got tired of it.”

By 2023, she shocked fans by announcing her retirement from music. But stepping away didn’t mean stepping out of the spotlight. Instead, she joined OnlyFans — and turned it into a business empire. While she wouldn’t confirm the reported $48 million payday, she admitted it was “life-changing” money that funded her tech and business ventures, including co-founding Unreal Mobile and launching her own cryptocurrency, Mother Coin.

Adding another layer to the revelation, Iggy disclosed she was secretly battling a severe leg infection during her time on the platform. “I turned lemons into lemonade with that,” she said, explaining that she would remove her medical line for a couple of days to take “hot bikini pictures” before returning to treatment.

Now, Iggy says she’s focused on control — of her image, her money, and her future. “I like to make a little bit of chaos. I always will,” she teased.
