Dillon Danis hasn’t let go of his bitter loss to Logan Paul—nearly two years later, it still lingers like an open wound.
The controversial MMA fighter was disqualified for unsportsmanlike conduct during the sixth round of their October 2023 boxing match at Misfits Boxing: The PRIME Card. It was a lopsided bout that ended with Danis swinging wildly, including at security, and ultimately leaving the ring embarrassed. But for Danis, the psychological toll of that night has been far more punishing than the physical one.
In a recent interview with Wade Plemons, Danis opened up about just how much the defeat has affected him. “Since that day, I’ve been like suicidal,” he admitted. “Because I know I can beat him, and I know I can do better than that. I’m very competitive… he sucks. I know he sucks.”
Danis’ obsession with the Logan Paul fight isn’t just about the loss—it’s about what could’ve been. He remains convinced he had the tools to win, and that failing to execute continues to torment him. “I could’ve beat him. I know I could’ve beat him, and that’s the thing that drives me crazy to this day,” he said. “It definitely f***ing haunts me.”
The beef between Danis and Paul was as much about social media as it was about combat sports. In the lead-up to their fight, Danis relentlessly trolled Paul’s fiancée, Nina Agdal, on Twitter—escalating tensions to the point that Agdal filed a lawsuit that’s still ongoing. The drama only fueled anticipation for the matchup, which ultimately ended in chaos and disappointment on Danis’ side.
Despite Paul’s polarizing reputation, Danis revealed he had been warned about Logan’s potential in the ring. During a dinner with UFC star Paulo Costa, Danis says Costa admitted to struggling during a sparring session with Paul. “He was like, ‘I just want to let you know I sparred him for real and I had a tough time with him. Like, I couldn’t do anything to him.’ I was like, ‘Are you being serious?’ And he was like, ‘Dead serious,’” Danis recalled.
Still, Danis believes Logan Paul ducked the real challenge: an MMA fight. “He shook my hand, but he’s scared of it,” Danis said. “I wish he did. We would make so much money.”
