Part 1: Alex Sanchez on Fleeing El Salvador & Getting Jumped into MS-13, Details Gang's Origins

--------

In 2009, Alex Sanchez was arrested alongside eight others on sweeping RICO charges that linked them to MS-13’s alleged leadership, including accusations of seven murders stretching back to 1995. Prosecutors claimed Sanchez was a covert “shot caller” conspiring on violent acts both in the U.S. and El Salvador. Facing life imprisonment, Sanchez recalls the harrowing FBI raid on his home and the emotional toll on his young children.

Sanchez's defense was ultimately bolstered by a federal public defender who exposed serious flaws in the prosecution’s case, including falsified evidence and misidentified wiretap participants. Crucially, an LAPD detective who testified against him was found to have manipulated evidence and coerced witnesses, leading to the dismissal of all charges by 2013. Reflecting on the ordeal, Sanchez expressed relief at vindication, crediting the community’s support and his legal team for overcoming a case clouded by corruption and vendettas.
