Omar Gooding isn’t backing down from his brewing beef with Cam’ron—and he’s using the moment to build hype for his next move: a new album dropping in October.

Things flared up (again) this week when Cam’ron fired a shot at Gooding on Instagram, sharing a throwback photo from the actor’s Nickelodeon days and warning him to “be careful” ahead of the return of his talk show It Is What It Is. “@omargooding this you?!” Cam wrote. “I’m back in America. And got 3 weeks before @itiswhatitis_talk starts back up, U still wanna play? U a Nickelodeon kid. Be careful n**** lol.”

It didn’t take long for Gooding to clap back. He posted a video of himself relaxing in a pool, dismissing Cam’s post as a weak move that’ll “backfire.” More importantly, he issued a challenge: “If you want it, get in the booth. It’s that simple. I’ve already been in there. You wanna hear me again?” In the caption, Gooding confirmed his album is set for release in October.

The back-and-forth has its roots in a December episode of It Is What It Is, when Cam’ron name-dropped Gooding while commenting on how hard it is for Black actors to find steady work without the help of power players like 50 Cent. “No disrespect,” Cam began, before suggesting actors like Gooding were just sitting around waiting for a role. The comment rubbed Gooding the wrong way, and he fired back in January with a diss track titled “Fix Ya Mouth.”

“He probably didn’t mean it like he said it, but he said it so f*** that dude,” Gooding rapped, taking aim at Cam’s signature pink aesthetic with the line: “They like to booboo and don’t think it stink and then they favorite color’s pink/ But probably call it salmon.”
