Boosie is closing a long legal chapter after announcing he has accepted a plea deal in his federal gun possession case. The Louisiana rapper, whose legal name is Torence Hatch, took to social media to share the update with fans, expressing both exhaustion and a sense of resolve.
“Just accepted a plea from the federal government on my gun case,” Boosie wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, August 4. “I thought this case was over n I was going to get on with my life, but God don’t make mistakes n I’m tired of fighting!!” The rapper added that he had spoken with his family and felt confident that taking the deal was the right decision. He also encouraged fans to pray for him and support his latest album Words of a Real One.
The plea comes more than two years after Boosie was initially charged with illegal gun possession in San Diego. As a previously convicted felon, Boosie was prohibited from owning a gun under federal law. The case was dismissed in mid-2024 due to shifting legal interpretations of Second Amendment rights for nonviolent offenders, but prosecutors later refiled the charges with modifications.
Boosie remains free on a $100,000 bond, and a hearing in the case is scheduled for August 26. While the exact terms of the plea agreement have not been disclosed, Boosie’s public message makes clear that he's ready to put the legal battle behind him and focus on his music, family, and fans.
