Soulja Boy is once again facing legal heat after being arrested during a late-night traffic stop in Los Angeles. According to NBC Los Angeles, the rapper — born DeAndre Cortez Way — was taken into custody early Sunday morning, August 3, after police allegedly spotted a firearm in the vehicle he was riding in. Officers determined that Soulja, a convicted felon, was in possession of the weapon and arrested him on the spot. Details on why the car was initially pulled over have not yet been released.

This latest arrest adds to what has already been a turbulent year for the “Crank That” rapper. Just weeks ago, his SODMG flagship store in L.A. was burglarized. Surveillance footage reportedly showed suspects using bolt cutters to break in and loot the space, stealing rare collectibles, designer streetwear, and even a custom leather jacket and Soulja's PlayStation. The robbery was a major blow to the rapper’s growing retail venture, which has become a staple for fans of his brand.

Soulja Boy is also dealing with the fallout from a separate, high-profile civil case. A woman known only as “Jane Doe” sued the rapper in 2021, accusing him of sexual harassment, assault, and wage theft during her time as his personal assistant. The lawsuit claimed the two entered a romantic relationship that quickly turned abusive, with repeated incidents of rape, physical violence, and even confinement without food. A judge recently ruled in her favor, ordering Soulja to pay over $1.5 million in damages, plus additional compensation for unpaid wages.
