What started as a fiery story on The Pat Bev Podcast has turned into a full-blown war of words between two former NBA players.
Patrick Beverley recently claimed on his podcast that he confronted Nick Young at a Big3 event, accusing the former Laker of being "scared" and ducking him in front of a crowd full of hoop legends. According to Beverley, the tense moment played out in front of Gilbert Arenas, Lance Stephenson, Michael Beasley, and others—and he didn’t hold back on the mic.
“I told him, with your scary ass... Talk all that s*** behind the camera. I see him in person, he don’t even want to look my way,” Beverley said, before doubling down in a post online with the message: “Check ball.”
But Nick Young—aka Swaggy P—wasn’t about to let that slide.
In a hilarious and wildly animated video response, Young shredded Beverley’s version of events while mocking his whole approach. “Pat, you gotta stop this s***... You trying to be Kat Stacks out here,” he joked, comparing Beverley to the controversial internet personality. “You out here telling stories like the side chick that got mad.”
Young then took things further, clowning Beverley by calling him a “mechanic” who looked like he needed spare change. “I thought you was asking for change… I gave him five dollars,” he quipped. “What kind of man lets a mechanic press him?”
Throughout the nearly 10-minute roast session, Young repeatedly challenged Beverley to a one-on-one basketball game—for money, for pride, or even for car repairs. “You wanna fix my car that bad? I’ll let you,” he laughed. “I need an oil change anyway.”
But even with the jokes flying, Young made one thing clear: if Beverley wants to settle this on the court, he’s game. “Name the place, any time. You and your white co-host can run a two-on-one if you need help.”
The former NBA champ finished off his response with a not-so-subtle warning, comparing himself to Kendrick Lamar. “This was just a warning shot,” Young said. “Don’t make me drop a ‘Not Like Us’ on you.”
