Now that the YSL RICO case has officially come to an end, Young Thug’s attorney is giving his client credit for helping shift the tide in how justice is served.
In a recent moment captured on video, attorney Brian Steel had a powerful message for Young Thug—real name Jeffrey Williams—following the conclusion of the high-profile trial.
“Since your trial, Jeffrey, there are more acquittals than there were before your trial,” Steel said. “And it’s because it’s related back to the fact that you showed that the criminal justice system is corrupt and prosecutors at times hide evidence. You did that. You are a hero. Thank you for teaching everybody the truth.”
The RICO case, which began over three years ago, officially ended on June 9, 2025, when the final defendant, Christian Eppinger, entered an Alford plea—maintaining his innocence while acknowledging that the prosecution had enough evidence for a conviction. Young Thug himself accepted a plea deal in October 2024, which included time served and probation, after facing serious charges that stemmed from accusations that his YSL music collective was operating as a criminal organization.
Whether or not the case has a long-term impact on how RICO charges are pursued in the future remains to be seen. But according to Steel, Young Thug’s fight—regardless of its outcome—has already made a lasting difference.
