Deion Sanders might be cancer-free, but he’s still dodging some tough questions—especially when it comes to rumors about his love life. The Colorado football coach was recently asked about his relationship with actress Karrueche Tran, and his playful response only fueled more speculation.
During a recent episode of the “Say What Needs To Be Said” podcast, former NFL player Asante Samuel brought up the elephant in the room. He referenced a YouTube video posted by Deion Jr., which showed Karrueche holding Sanders’ hand and visibly emotional as he prepared for major bladder surgery back in May.
“Everyone saw Karrueche Tran by your side during your hospital visit,” Samuel said. “Everyone wants to know what that friendship is.”
Sanders didn’t miss a beat—he got up mid-interview, joking, “Hey, we got a bad connection,” as he pretended to close his laptop. The move left Samuel cracking up, calling Sanders a true leader with wisdom and grace.
In the video, Karrueche appears deeply concerned as she shares details of Sanders’ diagnosis and procedure. “He’s having his bladder removed and they will create a new bladder with one of his intestines,” she explained through tears. “This option fully removes the cancer to ensure it won’t come back.”
The pair haven’t confirmed whether there’s anything romantic going on, but Karrueche’s presence and emotional response have sparked plenty of online chatter. Especially since Sanders, 57, ended his 12-year relationship with TV producer Tracey Edmonds late last year.
While the nature of their bond remains a mystery, one thing is clear: Sanders has a strong support system as he navigates his health and career. At a recent press conference in Boulder, the Hall of Famer announced he’s now cancer-free, flanked by his medical team, including Dr. Janet Kukreja of the University of Colorado Cancer Center.
