Machine Gun Kelly is no stranger to the big screen, having portrayed iconic rockstar Tommy Lee in The Dirt and appeared in various Netflix projects, but the rapper-turned-actor recently opened up about a role he chose to walk away from: the vampire thriller Sinners.

In a candid conversation, MGK revealed he was lined up to audition for the film but ultimately declined due to a controversial line in the script. “They had me set up to do the auditions,” he explained. “It’s the vampire one where the guy comes and eats the family. But in the audition, he has to say the N-word, and I just wouldn’t do it.”

MGK, whose real name is Colson Baker, said he takes acting seriously and actively pursues roles, but often faces rejection. Despite having past success in both film and TV, he admitted, “I just get told no so many times. I pursue it as much as I can.”

Though discouraged by the hurdles, MGK remains optimistic. “I’m on universal timing,” he said, suggesting he believes the right role will come along when the time is right. “The angels will put something in the works whenever they feel like it.”
