Kevin Gates and his longtime partner Dreka Gates are officially calling it quits.
Dreka, who once managed Kevin’s music career and frequently appeared alongside him in interviews and social media posts, filed for divorce this week, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split. According to court documents, the couple’s separation date is listed as July 10.
The pair married in October 2015 and share two children — 12-year-old Islah and 11-year-old Khaza. Dreka is seeking joint legal and physical custody of the children, along with spousal support. She also requested that the court revoke its ability to award spousal support to Kevin. It’s unclear whether the couple had a prenuptial agreement in place.
The filing comes just months before what would have been their 10th wedding anniversary.
While Kevin has remained quiet publicly about the divorce, the news follows speculation surrounding his relationship with influencer Brittany Renner. In a recent interview with REAL 92.3 LA, Renner revealed that she and Kevin were briefly married earlier this year.
“We got married April 6 and divorced May 28,” Renner, 33, said in the June 7 interview. She explained that the marriage was recognized under Islamic law and came with a 90-day waiting period intended for reconciliation and to determine if a woman is pregnant before finalizing the divorce. “During those 90 days, you are not to entertain anybody romantically,” she added.
Neither Kevin nor Dreka has commented publicly on what led to the breakdown of their nearly decade-long marriage.
