The murder trial of Jacksonville rapper Ksoo, born Hakeem Robinson, took a stunning and emotional turn when his own father took the stand to testify against him. On Monday afternoon, Abdul Robinson Sr., also known on the streets as “Blue,” spent over two hours identifying his son as the gunman in the 2020 murder of Charles McCormick Jr., a local rapper known as “Lil Buck.”

Ksoo and his cousin, Leroy Whitaker Jr., are both charged in the fatal shooting of McCormick, who was 23 at the time of his death. Prosecutors allege the killing was an act of retaliation after McCormick released a diss track referencing someone from Ksoo’s family who had been killed in a previous drive-by shooting.

During his testimony, Abdul Robinson Sr. said naming his son as the shooter was a difficult decision, but one he ultimately made. “It was hard,” he told the courtroom, while pointing out his son between two lawyers seated at the defense table. His testimony is expected to play a major role in the prosecution’s case.

However, the defense quickly pushed back, suggesting Robinson Sr. had his own reasons for testifying. The elder Robinson is currently facing serious charges himself—charges that could land him in prison for life. He is reportedly cooperating with prosecutors in hopes of receiving a lighter sentence due to health issues and age.

Defense attorneys painted him as a seasoned informant who has a history of cooperating with authorities for personal gain. They also argued that Abdul Robinson Sr. had a stronger motive to kill McCormick, particularly given his close, father-figure relationship to another man named Willie Addison, who was also killed and referenced in McCormick’s diss track.

McCormick’s murder is believed to be linked to that very track, and prosecutors say it set off the chain of events that led to his death. According to Robinson Sr., his son sought revenge for the song and carried out the shooting.

But during cross-examination, Ksoo’s legal team questioned the credibility of Robinson Sr., highlighting his criminal background and questioning whether he was shifting blame to protect himself.
