Mack Maine is grieving an unimaginable loss after revealing the heartbreaking news that his son, Isaiah “Zeke,” passed away suddenly on July 16 from a seizure at his home in California. Zeke was just 20 years old.

The rapper shared an emotional Instagram post on July 28, opening up about the profound pain and confusion he’s been navigating since receiving the devastating phone call.

“Been trying to build up the strength to put up this post since last night so bear with me,” he began, before explaining that Zeke’s death has left him in shock. “Still confused, still questioning life and why my child and not me.”

Though reeling from the loss, Mack Maine expressed gratitude for the bond he shared with Zeke, calling fatherhood “one of the greatest gifts” of his life. “YOU were my biggest inspiration and motivation…YOU were the reason I got out of the bed when everyone else snoozed,” he wrote. “Your smile brightened my dark days as you were my SONshine.”

Zeke’s passing has left a deep void not only for his father, but for the community of loved ones who surrounded him. “Since July 16th your village has been crushed and we’re hurting,” Mack Maine continued.

“This is a pain I’ve personally never felt before, but I’m still trusting and believing in God’s plan.”

In his tribute, Mack Maine shared that Zeke is now reunited in spirit with his beloved grandparents and two of his favorite companions, Bentley and Dip. He reflected on how Zeke’s soul was full of “innocence” and his heart was “pure.”

The post also touched on the poignancy of timing: July 28 marked Mack Maine’s birthday and also the anniversary of his own father’s passing. “Today if you all are reading this and would like to do sumthin for me for my bday I ask that you hug the ones you love and squeeze em tight… if you can’t hug em call em to tell them you love them,” he wrote. “And if you in the same boat as me, close your eyes and remember the good times or scroll thru pics and vids.”

Closing the tribute with a vow to make both his father and son proud, Mack Maine wrote: “To Zeke, I love you and I know I’ll see you again… To my Pops, I miss you big dawg and I know you met Zeke on the other side with open arms.”
