Young Buck recently reflected on his time with G-Unit and addressed the possibility of a long-awaited reunion, giving fans insight into the highs and lows of the group’s history. Speaking candidly, Young Buck made it clear that while he's grateful for the opportunity G-Unit gave him, the relationships within the group may never return to what they once were.
“None of my career would’ve happened from being exposed to the world the way I was exposed if it wasn’t for G-Unit,” Buck said. “So, you know, I’m grateful for that. I salute 50 for even giving me the opportunity.”
While expressing his appreciation, Buck admitted he was deeply hurt by the way things ended with the group. He said he had a genuine, brotherly love for the crew and never saw their bond dissolving. “You thinking it lasts forever,” he said. “I got your back to the death... [But] we just not together no more. We don’t rock like that—from a friendship, music, business—it’s not there.”
Buck also revealed that he’s tried reaching out to former groupmates Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo, but hasn’t heard much back. “Banks just been kind of focused on doing whatever he doing with his life. Yayo doing whatever he doing. 50 doing whatever he doing. It is what it is.”
Although he attempted to mend fences in the past, Buck made peace with the fact that a reunion may never happen. “I went down that road of trying to get us back together... and it didn’t go the way it’s planned—and that’s okay.”
Still, Buck isn’t dwelling on the past. He’s stayed focused on what’s always driven him: the music. “Music has always been my strong point with the crew. I’ve always loved the music more than the money... That’s what I maintain my love for.”
Reflecting on his journey, Buck shared a story about meeting Scarface as a teen, which changed the course of his career. Scarface advised him to win over his hometown first, a lesson Buck took to heart. He returned to Nashville, started pressing his own CDs, and hustled them hand-to-hand until his music phone was ringing more than his trap phone.
Now, Buck’s energy is squarely on his solo career. “Catch me if you can, though, 'cause I’m gone on,” he said. “And if they took the money away from this [music], I’d still have to do it ‘cause I love it.”
So while a G-Unit reunion might seem like a dream to fans, Young Buck is clear-eyed about the reality—and firmly rooted in his purpose as an artist.
