In the wake of heartbreaking news, actor and comedian Adam Sandler recently shared emotional memories of his early friendship with the late Malcolm-Jamal Warner, following Warner’s untimely passing at the age of 54.
Sandler, who got one of his first acting breaks with a guest spot on The Cosby Show, remembered Warner as a kind and generous presence on set.
“I can’t believe it,” Sandler said, visibly shaken. “Malcolm was so nice to me when I was on the show. We had such good times together.”
Reflecting on their time as teenagers, Sandler recalled how close the two became during the taping of the iconic sitcom. “I was probably 18 and Malcolm was probably 17, 16... we would take walks together, all of us, and pick up food, talk, play basketball, hang out on the weekends, go to parties together,” Sandler shared.
He described Warner as more than just a co-star—he was a real friend and a genuinely good-hearted person. “He was so good to me as a person. His mom was amazing, too. I’m just sending my love to the family.”
Sandler praised Warner’s intelligence, humor, and the impact he had on American culture. “Malcolm was a true great person—hilarious, smart, and he meant a lot to America.”
As he closed his tribute, Sandler offered his condolences to Warner’s loved ones: “I’m so sorry to his wife and his child. Just absolutely heartbreaking.”
Warner, best known for his iconic role as Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show, left a lasting legacy as an actor, director, and musician. His passing is a profound loss to the entertainment community and to generations of fans who grew up watching his work.
