The adult entertainment community and fans alike were deeply shocked by the news of Kylie Page’s death on June 25. It was later revealed that the 28-year-old performer died from an apparent overdose, reigniting concerns over a troubling trend in the industry.
Kylie Page’s passing marks the seventh suspected overdose death among adult performers in just three years. Other actresses who have tragically lost their lives to overdoses include Angelina Please, Sophie Anderson, Sophia Leone, Jesse Jane, and Kagney Linn Karter. This alarming pattern has sparked conversations about the mental health challenges and substance abuse issues facing those in the adult entertainment world.
Page was found in her Los Angeles apartment during a wellness check initiated by a concerned friend who had not heard from her for some time. Beyond her work in adult films, Kylie was also featured in the 2017 Netflix mini-series Hot Girls Wanted: Turned On, which explored the realities of the industry.
Amy-Marie Merrell, co-executive director of Cupcake Girls, a nonprofit organization providing mental health support to adult performers, described Kylie as a “kind, loving, wonderful person.” She highlighted the broader challenges performers face, emphasizing that the adult industry is not a monolith. “When people talk about drug use, they often say, ‘Oh, they were in adult entertainment — that’s why,’” Merrell said. “But that oversimplifies a much more complex issue involving emotional support, mental health, and individual circumstances.”
As the industry grapples with these losses, advocates like Merrell are calling for increased mental health resources and support systems to help performers navigate the unique pressures of their profession.
