Part 13: Rashia Wilson on Violence in Female Prisons: I Had A Lot of Bad Experiences
Part 1: Rashia Wilson on Her Mom's Addiction & Having 7 Kids with 6 Men, Dad "Lived" in Prison

--------

Rashia Wilson, who was originally sentenced to 21 years in prison, found herself back in court with high hopes after her appeal was granted. Her new lawyer, Andrew Greenlee, had worked diligently since 2015 to secure her appeal. The crux of her legal battle was a gun enhancement charge, which Wilson claims was unjustly applied. Despite the appellate court in Atlanta vacating and remanding her sentence, the same judge, stepping out of retirement, reaffirmed her original term. The judge maintained the rationale behind the initial sentencing, effectively denying Wilson any reduction and further increasing penalties for her felonies. Initially, she was sentenced to 18 months for the gun charge, 24 months for aggravated identity theft, and 17 years for wire fraud, running consecutively. The revised sentence compressed the charges, yet sustained the 21-year total by escalating the gun and wire fraud penalties.
