Dustin Poirier is set to retire from the UFC in style—and with star power. The former interim lightweight champion confirmed that rap icon Lil Wayne will walk him out for his final fight against UFC BMF titleholder Max Holloway.

While Poirier has famously used James Brown’s “The Boss” as his walkout anthem in recent years, longtime fans may remember that he made his UFC debut in 2011 to Lil Wayne’s “Drop the World.” Now, for his farewell bout, he's bringing things full circle.

Back in April on The Ariel Helwani Show, Poirier shared his dream scenario for his final walk to the Octagon:
“If Lil Wayne wants to walk me out in New Orleans, I’ll walk out to Lil Wayne in my last fight and switch it up from James Brown. If he does ‘Drop the World,’ I’ll come out to it.”

That dream is now a reality.

At a press conference on Wednesday (July 16), Poirier confirmed the special guest appearance and revealed a hybrid walkout plan:

“It’ll be a little bit of James Brown, a little bit of Wayne. Yeah, Wayne’s walking out with me... I have to [stick with James Brown]. I’ve paid the cost to be the boss. On my last one, I can’t go that far away from it. I need to hear that. I need to feel that vibe before I fight someone.”

As Poirier prepares to close the chapter on his legendary career, he’s doing it his way—with grit, style, and a nod to the music and memories that shaped his rise.
