Shaquille O’Neal isn’t holding back when it comes to defending Angel Reese.
During a recent appearance on Bailey Jackson’s Off the Record podcast, the NBA legend addressed Robert Griffin III’s controversial comments and social media activity involving Reese.
Looking straight into the camera, Shaq delivered a blunt message: “RG3? Tweet another monkey post about my girl Angel Reese and I’m going to punch you in your f***ing face. It’s enough. I don’t usually do stuff like this, but just stop it, bro.”
Shaq continued, doubling down on his defense of the LSU star turned WNBA rookie: “You got your job, you got your podcast—just leave my Angel Reese alone. I’m the one calling her and telling her not to respond. Stop it. That’s the last time. OK? Thank you.”
The fiery comments came in response to a post from RGIII (Robert Griffin III), in which the former NFL quarterback claimed that Reese was indirectly responsible for his family receiving threats.
“I have been quiet on the Angel Reese front because she shared a video that aided in my wife, kids, family, and friends receiving death threats, threats of physical harm, and threats of sexual violence to my children on social media and beyond,” RGIII wrote.
He went on to clarify his original comments, saying his criticism of Reese was strictly about basketball, stating, “I never attacked her or her family when I stated—and backed up with clear basketball evidence—that Angel Reese hates Caitlin Clark. It’s sports. Everybody won’t like each other.”
Despite trying to draw a line between his sports commentary and the backlash, RGIII also acknowledged the racist undertones of a widely criticized image he shared, writing, “All that being said, Angel Reese or any Black man or woman should never be called or depicted as a monkey. Ever.”
The post in question featured an edited image of Reese that many deemed racially offensive, sparking widespread backlash online—and now, from Shaq himself.
