On Monday (July 14), reports surfaced that police in Huntington, New York, are investigating allegations that R&B singer Trey Songz assaulted a cameraman during an event at The Ivy nightclub.
Now, a representative for Trey Songz is speaking out, asserting the artist’s innocence and pushing back on the claims.
In a statement to TMZ, Trey's legal representative, Ted Anastasiou, said, “What happened at The Ivy was the result of increasingly aggressive paparazzi invading an artist’s personal space — conduct that puts everyone at risk and a trend that’s impacting not just Trey but artists everywhere. Trey disputes the characterization of events, is cooperating fully with authorities, and looks forward to the facts, not speculation, speaking for themselves.”
The alleged victim, Issa Mansoor, was reportedly hired by the owner of The Ivy to capture footage during the night Trey and his entourage were present. Mansoor claims that Trey attacked him — punching him in the side of the head, slamming him into a wall, and destroying two of his cameras. He says he was later diagnosed with a concussion, migraine, and ankle pain as a result of the alleged assault.
As of now, no charges have been filed, and the investigation remains ongoing.
