Boxing champion Gervonta Davis was released from jail on a $10,000 bond after being arrested in connection to an alleged domestic violence incident involving his ex-girlfriend.
The incident reportedly took place on Father’s Day (June 15), when Davis is accused of punching the woman “on the rear of her head with a closed fist” and slapping her across the face.
Davis was seen leaving Florida's Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center around 6 p.m. on Friday (July 11). He was flanked by three Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department officers — an unusual escort for a person being released, according to local reporters on the scene. The 29-year-old boxer kept his head down and shirt pulled over his face, refusing to respond to reporters’ questions as he exited the facility.
This isn’t the first time Davis has faced legal trouble. In 2023, he was sentenced to 90 days of house arrest after pleading guilty to a hit-and-run incident in Baltimore that injured four people, including a pregnant woman. He has also faced previous accusations of domestic violence, including a 2020 incident where he was caught on video aggressively grabbing the mother of his child at a public event.
