Jeezy recently opened up about a major missed opportunity in his career during an appearance on the 7PM in Brooklyn podcast. The rapper revealed that he was originally featured on Beyoncé’s chart-topping hit, “Drunk in Love,” but was ultimately removed from the track—and replaced by none other than Jay-Z.

“I dropped the ball when I wrote my verse for ‘Drunk in Love’ for Beyoncé,” Jeezy confessed. He went on to recount the moment he got the call from Hov himself: “Hov called me. He’s like, ‘I took you off the song. By the way, I’m on there.’ I was like, ‘I figured that.’”

Despite being left off the final cut, Jeezy expressed that he still wants fans to hear his original verse. “It’s on someone’s drive,” he said. “Tell Bey we need to put that out. It’s some vintage.”

Reflecting on the studio session with the power couple, Jeezy recalled the intensity of the moment. “[Jay-Z] came in the room and [Beyoncé] was like, ‘You got something for this?’ You know I’m going in,” he explained. “It sounded crazy. This is her song, but I’m just trying to go hard. [Jay-Z] probably like, ‘Oh nah. We not putting that out.’”

Laughing, Jeezy admitted with humility, “That was a mistake.”
