Rising West Coast star EBK Jaaybo is making waves—even from jail. The Stockton rapper was recently announced as a member of the 2025 XXL Freshman Class, one of hip-hop’s most coveted honors for up-and-coming talent. Though he couldn't attend the shoot or join his peers on the cover due to his current incarceration, Jaaybo is still making his voice heard.
In a statement to TMZ Hip Hop, Jaaybo shared his gratitude and pride for being chosen despite his legal setbacks. “I was disappointed I couldn’t make it in-person, but for XXL to allow me to still be selected even though I’m in jail is an honor,” he said. “I know they don’t have to do it—so that’s gangsta!”
Being named alongside artists like GELO and ian—two of the genre’s most buzzed-about newcomers—only adds to the moment's weight. “It’s been some greats to be chosen, so I’m glad to be a part of the 2025 class. I fux with ’em,” Jaaybo added.
Known for his raw, introspective lyrics and gritty realism, EBK Jaaybo has amassed a loyal fanbase with viral hits like “Boogieman” and “The Biggest G.” His authenticity and street credibility have kept his name hot even as he navigates time behind bars, with supporters continuing to stream his music and advocate for his release.
With a major co-sign from XXL, Jaaybo’s career appears poised for another level when he regains his freedom. For now, the rapper remains focused and grateful—cementing his spot in a class that many see as the next generation of rap royalty.
