Irving recalled the false intelligence regarding weapons of mass destruction that led to the Iraq War. He argued that similar misleading narratives might be influencing current events, emphasizing the need for caution against propaganda. Irving explained how during his military service, the promise of finding WMDs in Iraq was a “lie” akin to the claims of Iran's imminent nuclear capabilities that have persisted since the 1990s. Additionally, Irving criticized a proposed travel ban by the Trump administration affecting many countries, which he described as unfair to those with family in the affected regions. He highlighted the impact on those who had previously aided U.S. efforts abroad, such as Afghan interpreters who are now restricted from visiting family due to the ban.
