Cardi B is setting the record straight after facing criticism for including her chart-topping hits “WAP” and “Up” on her upcoming album, Am I the Drama?, despite the songs being released years ago.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the Bronx rapper made it clear this would be the only time she addresses the controversy. “WAP and Up are two of my biggest songs. My fans have been asking me to put them on an album, and people search for them on iTunes all the time,” she wrote. “They deserve a home.”
Cardi also opened up about regrets from earlier in her career, revealing that she held back from submitting “WAP” for Grammy consideration due to online negativity. “I let haters make me not submit WAP for the Grammys, and at this point, I’m giving my fans what they want!”
In closing, Cardi clapped back at critics questioning her motives, stating that the inclusion of the songs won’t impact her first-week album sales. “These two songs don’t even count for first-week sales, so what are y’all even crying about? Do y’all say anything when all these artists pull out every little trick and pony to sell out? Exactly… Now let them eat cake. Go cry about it!”
Cardi’s highly anticipated sophomore album, Am I the Drama?, has already sparked plenty of conversation—and she’s clearly not afraid to take control of the narrative.
