Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton’s Achilles injury during Game 7 has sparked concern across the NBA, especially after the rising star admitted he’s been struggling with mental anguish in the aftermath.

Among those weighing in is Kevin Durant, who suffered a similar Achilles tear during the 2019 NBA Finals. Durant, who made a successful comeback and remains one of the league’s top players, offered his perspective after rapper Cam’ron commented on Haliburton’s injury.

Cam’ron took to social media, saying, “I know I'm the last n**** to say stop being fashionable. But STOP WEARING THESE LOW CUTS AND 3 QUARTERS. Please and thank you.”

Durant’s shut down the idea that fashion-forward footwear, like low-top basketball shoes, is to blame for major injuries like Achilles ruptures, as he told Cam'ron, “Brother, that has absolutely nothing to do with these injuries."

In past interviews, Durant has spoken candidly about the mental and physical toll of his own Achilles injury. After tearing it in Game 5 of the 2019 Finals, he said, “My road back starts now… I’m hurting deeply, but I’m OK. Basketball is my biggest love and I wanted to be out there that night… It’s going to be a journey but I’m built for this.”
