Beyoncé wrapped up the European leg of her Cowboy Carter tour in spectacular fashion with a sold-out show at Paris’ Stade de France, where she surprised fans by bringing out Jay-Z for a rare on-stage reunion. The moment came after Beyoncé teased the 80,000-strong crowd by announcing she had a special guest — and then Jay stepped out to join her for their 2003 classic, “Crazy in Love.”
After their duet, Beyoncé exited the stage, leaving the spotlight to her husband. Jay-Z kept the energy high by performing several of his solo hits, including the fan-favorite “N****s in Paris.” Given the setting, the track felt especially appropriate — but fans were quick to pick up on a key change in his lyrics.
Instead of the original line, “Just might let you meet Ye,” Jay revised the verse to say, “Just might let you meet Bey, H-Town’s hero.” The switch didn't go unnoticed, especially in light of Jay-Z and Kanye West’s rocky history.
The lyric change comes after Kanye posted a lengthy apology earlier this year, acknowledging his public rants against both Jay-Z and Beyoncé. In one now-deleted tweet, Kanye claimed their twins, Sir and Rumi, were developmentally challenged — a claim that sparked outrage. He later expressed regret, writing, “I LOVE JAY Z AND I DO FEEL BAD… I ALWAYS FELT LIKE THE BLACK SHEEP… I WANTED FAMILY IN THIS MUSIC SH-T.”
Ye went on to mention past grievances, including Jay skipping his first wedding and allegedly favoring Kendrick Lamar over him for the Super Bowl halftime show. “I FELT LIKE BOTH HIM AND HIS WIFE COULD HAVE HELPED ME HAVE MORE LEVERAGE WITH MY KIDS,” he added, referencing his ongoing drama with the Kardashian family. “THEY COULD HAVE USED THEIR CULTURAL POSITION TO NOT JUST WATCH THE KARDASHIANS RUN ME OVER.”
While Jay-Z didn’t directly address Kanye on stage, the lyric swap speaks volumes — offering fans both a powerful performance and a subtle reminder of where allegiances currently stand.
