Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown is facing attempted second-degree murder charges following a violent altercation outside an amateur boxing event in Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood on May 16.

According to a warrant obtained by NBC News, the incident unfolded when Brown allegedly punched another man, triggering a physical altercation involving three additional individuals. The situation escalated when Brown was reportedly seen on security footage grabbing a firearm from a security officer and approaching the man he had initially attacked.

Moments later, cell phone footage captured two gunshots. The warrant states the victim could be seen ducking after the first shot was fired. Officers investigating the scene later recovered two spent shell casings and an empty firearm holster.

The man, who told police he has known Brown since 2022, positively identified him as the shooter. He sustained visible injuries and was treated at a hospital the same night. The warrant claims the bullet grazed the man's neck.

Initially, Florida Highway Patrol officers—who were working off-duty security for the event—detained Brown. A pat-down revealed he was not carrying a firearm at the time. He was later released.

Brown addressed the incident on social media, posting on X (formerly Twitter), “I was jumped by multiple individuals who tried to steal my jewelry and cause physical harm to me. Contrary to some video circulating, Police temporarily detained me until they received my side of the story and then released me.”

Despite Brown’s statement, the Miami Police Department confirmed that a warrant for his arrest was signed by a judge on Wednesday. Brown is charged with attempted second-degree murder and is being held on a $10,000 bond. As of now, he has not turned himself in.
