Nicki Minaj is making headlines once again—this time for her fiery bars on the remix of Lil Wayne’s track “Banned from NO.” Known for never holding her tongue, Nicki uses the song to settle old scores and call out big names, including Shannon Sharpe and Jay-Z.
In one standout line, she raps: “If I send a pic of Shannon, you ain’t that Sharpe!”
The jab is widely believed to be aimed at NFL legend-turned-commentator Shannon Sharpe, who previously dismissed Nicki by saying, “Nicki who?” during a segment last year. Nicki clearly hasn’t forgotten.
Shortly after the remix dropped, she confirmed the reference on X (formerly Twitter), writing:
“Yeah n**** you thought I forgot that ‘Nicki who’ s*** you did? LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO j/k. Ochocinco almost caught a strizzy just by being around yo crazy tail self.”
The tweet playfully drags former NFL star Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson into the mix, hinting that even being associated with Sharpe could have gotten him caught in the crossfire.
But the barbs didn’t stop there.
In another line from the remix, Nicki seems to take aim at Jay-Z and his role as the NFL’s entertainment strategist.
Fans speculate the lyric: “NFL, fire some n****s and then call us!!!” is a veiled shot at Jay-Z, who many believe overlooked Lil Wayne for this year’s Super Bowl halftime show, which instead featured Kendrick Lamar. As a longtime collaborator and friend of Wayne, Nicki may be voicing her frustration with what she sees as a snub.
Whether she’s trolling or telling the truth, one thing’s for sure—Nicki’s still got bars, and she’s not afraid to use them.
