Keyshia Cole recently made headlines after a candid appearance on The Breakfast Club, where she opened up about being single and her hopes of having another child. But it wasn’t just her personal plans that had people talking—it was a comment she made about fellow R&B singer Ashanti that quickly went viral.
During the interview, Keyshia was asked about her 2021 Verzuz battle with Ashanti. In response, she praised the singer, saying, “Shout out to Ashanti, 'cause I mean, she's amazing. She got a baby, she's pregnant again.”
The hosts quickly followed up, asking if Keyshia had insider information that hadn’t yet been confirmed by Ashanti herself. Caught off guard, Keyshia admitted she might have jumped the gun, saying she thought she saw the announcement on Instagram.
Realizing the slip-up, Keyshia took to the comments of Hollywood Unlocked’s Instagram to apologize, writing:
"My apologies… I shouldn’t have said that. I thought she announced it. If that isn’t true, I apologize."
Ashanti, who welcomed her first child earlier this year with longtime partner Nelly, has expressed her desire to grow her family. In a February interview with E! News, she said, "We’re going to add some more. Definitely a girl to balance it out. I’m outnumbered in the house right now. So, a girl would be great."
