Suge Knight and Sean “Diddy” Combs have had a well-documented rivalry stretching back decades, but the former Death Row Records CEO is now showing an unexpected side: sympathy.

During Diddy’s ongoing legal battle, his former assistant, Capricorn Clark, alleged that he once threatened to kill her after discovering she had previously worked for Knight. Additionally, in a separate claim, Cassie Ventura testified that Diddy abruptly left one of his so-called “freak-offs” with armed bodyguards after learning Suge was dining nearby at a Los Angeles diner.

Despite their history, Knight shared words of compassion for Diddy during a recent interview with CNN’s chief legal analyst Laura Coates.

“Anytime somebody is fighting for their life and they have kids, you still got to show some type of sympathy for them,” Knight said. “He might have allegedly did a lot of things, but I don’t want to see the children locked up. When a man or woman is in prison, their whole family is, too.”

Knight also weighed in on how the case is being handled by prosecutors. “I don’t feel that the prosecution want it that bad, because a lot of stuff they had on him, they left out,” he said. “It don’t seem like they’re really coming down hard on him.”

He went on to speculate about the possibility of a pardon if Diddy is convicted. “If Puffy gets convicted, Trump’s going to pardon him. Trump is a president that stands up and does what he wants to do, and he’s going to do what he feels is best. So Puffy has nothing to worry about.”

When asked if Diddy should take the stand, Knight encouraged it. “He probably was advised not to, but I feel if he does tell his truth, he really will walk,” he said. “He can humanize himself, and a jury might give him a shot. But if they keep him sitting down, it’s like he’s scared to face the music. He just has to have his faith in God, pull up his pants, and go up there and tell his truth.”
