Part 1: Ruben Palomares on Mom Being Kidnapped & R***d for 2 Years, Dad Rescued & R***d Her After
--------
Former LAPD officer Ruben Palomares shared a harrowing account of his time in federal prison. Having been incarcerated for robbing dealers, Palomares found himself in one of the most perilous prison populations for an ex-cop. Early on, he faced a tense confrontation with Sureños gang members. Knowing the street dynamics and aware of who their shot-caller was, Palomares leveraged street connections to diffuse the situation, ultimately earning respect by invoking the influence of a shared acquaintance. Palomares' prison survival strategy relied heavily on his faith. As a devout Christian, he conducted Bible studies and lived an unpretentious life, which eventually garnered him respect even from those within the prison gang hierarchy. However, the environment was far from benign; Palomares recounted episodes where altercations became unavoidable, moments that tested his resolve to maintain inner peace amidst external chaos. Despite the adversities, his authenticity and open acknowledgment of his past played a significant role in maintaining a level of safety during his incarceration.
