Regina Ventura, mother of singer Cassie, took the stand in a Manhattan courtroom on Tuesday (May 20), delivering emotional and disturbing testimony in Sean “Diddy” Combs’ federal sex trafficking and racketeering trial.

While under oath, Ventura shared harrowing details about her daughter’s past relationship with Diddy, including a claim that the music mogul once demanded $20,000 from her after threatening to release a sex tape of Cassie.

Jurors were shown a series of 2011 text messages in which Cassie allegedly told her mother that Diddy had made the threat. Ventura testified that Diddy also threatened both her and rapper Kid Cudi, following rumors of a relationship between Cassie and Cudi.

According to Ventura, Diddy justified the $20,000 demand as repayment for money he had invested in Cassie’s music career. She testified that she and her husband withdrew the funds from a home equity line of credit, fearing for their daughter’s safety.

“I went to the credit union,” Ventura said, explaining how she obtained the funds. She testified that she followed wiring instructions provided by Diddy’s bookkeeper. She also noted that Diddy eventually returned the money.

Ventura further described the volatile nature of Cassie’s relationship with Diddy. She confirmed that she had taken photographs of Cassie’s bruised body—images that were shown in court. She also recounted a specific altercation she witnessed between the two.

During that incident, she said, Diddy forcibly took Cassie’s phone. “We were arguing about the phone,” Ventura testified. “I wanted the phone back. I was yelling, screaming, and trying to hit him.” She added that Diddy’s longtime security guard, Damion “D-Roc” Butler, was present and stood between them.

The confrontation ended, she said, with Diddy returning the phone and driving off in Cassie’s Jaguar.
Diddy’s legal team declined to cross-examine Ventura. Prosecutors proceeded with their next witness following her testimony.
