Part 2: Magician Penn Jillette (Penn & Teller) on Why He Hated Magic During His Youth
--------
Penn Jillette, one half of the legendary magic duo Penn & Teller, delves into his atheist beliefs and family history, drawing parallels to Vlad's own non-religious views and reacting to Vlad's religious debate with rapper Millyz. Raised in a Christian household in Greenfield, Massachusetts, Jillette was surrounded by a nurturing church community. Despite the warmth he received, Jillette embarked on a path of atheism after questioning the truthfulness of biblical narratives. Contrary to stereotypical depictions of atheists formed from negative church experiences, Jillette recounts his pleasant interactions with churchgoers and his amicable relationship with his religious parents. His parents demonstrated their own rebellion against religious intolerance by leaving their church in protest of its proposed dismissal of an openly lesbian pastor. While Jillette's father died a Christian, his mother leaned towards atheism later in life.
