Jermaine Dupri is pulling back the curtain on his creative process as he builds out the soundtrack for Magic City — which will accompany his documentary, Magic City: An American Fantasy

In a recent episode of his behind-the-scenes series, JD traveled to Miami to connect with BMF co-founder Big Meech. The legendary producer explained that he initially didn’t realize Meech was unable to leave his home or hit the studio due to probation restrictions. Instead, Dupri brought the session to Meech’s doorstep.

JD revealed that he’s looking to feature Big Meech on the album, possibly through interludes or skits, and said their reunion felt like no time had passed.

As they reminisced, Big Meech recalled his last time at Magic City — during the 2003 NBA All-Star Weekend — calling it “a monumental time.” From there, the conversation turned nostalgic as the two swapped stories about their early days in Atlanta nightlife. Jermaine noted that back in the day, Meech was the man at Magic City, with his pick of any woman in the club.

JD also shared a humorous memory about their long-standing friendship, revealing that Big Meech once stole one of his bodyguards. "We go back decades," Jermaine said, laughing about the friendly rivalry.

With Magic City: The Soundtrack shaping up to be both a musical celebration and a time capsule of Atlanta's golden era, JD's reconnection with Big Meech is setting the stage for some authentic storytelling.
