Murder Inc. co-founder Chris Gotti is making headlines after his recent appearance on the Keep it 100 podcast, where he opened up about acting as a "therapist" between his brother Irv Gotti and Ashanti during their complicated relationship.
During the interview, Chris insisted that Ashanti should give more credit to Irv for launching and shaping her career, suggesting that her success was deeply tied to the Murder Inc. machine and Irv’s creative direction.
“She should understand that, too. If you’re in the limelight, they ask the question," Chris said. "It wasn’t little, it was big. For her to act like it ain’t Murder Inc. that made her is fing bulls***. Or that Irv made her — it’s crazy. She had three deals before him. Like, something with y’all chemistry worked out. Respect it. That’s all. I’m not saying you have to talk about it... Just respect the magic that was made.”
Chris also spoke about his role mediating between the two, describing the tension that has lingered for years. “See, I’m always in the middle. Irv hate when I take her position. But I never took Irv’s position with her. But I’m doing it 'cause he ain’t here now. I’m not gon’ let no one talk about my brother. You gon’ have a problem. Simple and plain. Especially someone who he made that career. I was there. Like, he made you sing records in the way you sang them. 'Cause you would’ve never sang it that way if it was up to you.”
