Jury selection is officially underway in Sean “Diddy” Combs’ federal sex trafficking case, and some surprising names are coming up in the courtroom.

According to AllHipHop, potential jurors were questioned about whether they hold any opinions or prior knowledge of actor Michael B. Jordan. The reason? Jordan was named in the 2023 bombshell lawsuit filed by Diddy's ex-girlfriend, singer Cassie Ventura.

In the suit, Cassie alleges that she and Diddy briefly broke up in 2015, during which time she engaged in a “flirtatious relationship with an actor.” CNN later confirmed that the actor was Michael B. Jordan. The lawsuit further claims that Diddy became enraged after learning the two had spent New Year’s Eve together, allegedly calling Jordan and threatening him.

Jurors were also asked about their familiarity with rapper Kid Cudi, who is mentioned in the same lawsuit. Cassie accuses Diddy of threatening to blow up Cudi’s car in 2012 after learning the two had been in contact. Shortly after, Cudi’s car did in fact explode in his driveway. A representative for the rapper told The New York Times that “the incident and allegations are all true.”

The jury selection process is expected to continue through the end of this week, with opening statements scheduled to begin Monday, May 12.

The trial marks a major turning point in the ongoing legal fallout facing the Bad Boy Records founder, who is currently under multiple investigations stemming from accusations of abuse, coercion, and trafficking.
