Lil Uzi Vert is responding to the latest wave of leaked music — and this time, the Philly rapper seems more amused than angry.
Taking to Instagram, Uzi shared a photo along with a surprising caption: "The leakers technically work for Atlantic, but I'm so in love with my community I don't even care lol." Despite the tongue-in-cheek comment, the issue of leaks has long been a source of frustration for the Eternal Atake artist.
Uzi, who’s signed to Atlantic Records through DJ Drama, Don Cannon, and Leighton Morrison’s Generation Now imprint, has had dozens of unreleased songs surface online over the years — some in bulk leaks that quickly go viral within fan forums and Discord servers.
Back in January, Uzi didn’t mince words about the situation during an appearance on Pitchfork’s Over/Under series. When asked to name something overrated, Uzi responded, “Leaks be so overrated. Leaks are not ready to be presented.”
They continued, “When y’all get leaks — fans, or the leak police, or the scammers, or the people in those rooms and the Discords — when y’all get 82 of my leaked songs that I haven’t put together the right way…”
Uzi explained that leaked music gives fans an incomplete picture of an artist’s vision: “Y’all sit here and say, ‘Oh, Lil Uzi is trash.’ Y’all literally are basically watching me get dressed in my closet. I don’t got my clothes on yet. So y’all basically see me naked.”
They concluded, “So y’all n****s is trash. All y’all. Y’all not giving me a second to get dressed. So before I could dress the song up, y’all judge it. So leaks are horrible. It’s not even an over or underrated — horrible.”
While Uzi may have lightened their tone in their latest post, the message remains clear: leaked songs don’t represent the full creative picture. Still, they’re choosing to respond with humor and love for their fans — even if some of those fans are behind the leaks.
