Jim Jones recently appeared on Way Up with Angela Yee, where he opened up about his falling out with Kanye West — and why their once-promising relationship turned sour.

While speaking with Angela and co-host Maino, the Harlem rapper made it clear that he still respects Kanye’s artistry but has major issues with how their beef unfolded.

"I love Kanye's creative genius," Jones said. "But the way he treated our situation, I just can’t respect that."

Jones recounted a trip to Japan to meet with Kanye, where he believed they were on solid ground. But that changed when he began to feel Ye no longer saw him as a peer. “At one point, I felt like he started looking at me like an employee,” Jones said.

Speaking on the tension that followed, Jones revealed that their beef escalated through text messages, with Kanye even suggesting a fight.

“We had our back and forth,” Jones said. “N**** said he wanted to shoot the fade with me. I said, ‘Cool, I’m flying to L.A. tomorrow — we can shoot the 31.’”

“Shooting the 31” is Harlem slang for a brief, one-on-one fight lasting 31 seconds — a way to settle things and move on.

“I told him, ‘We fight for 31 seconds — I’ll kick your ass for 31 seconds — then I’ll hug you and fly back.’” But Kanye, according to Jim, quickly backed down. “He said, ‘No, I was just venting. We don’t have to do that.’”
