Famed stylist Misa Hylton has filed a $5 million lawsuit against her longtime friend and former client, R&B legend Mary J. Blige, accusing the singer of intentionally sabotaging her business relationship with rapper Vado.

According to court documents obtained by AllHipHop, Hylton alleges that Blige used her star power and personal influence to “isolate Vado and steer him away” from his management deal with Hylton’s agency, M.I.S.A Management — a move that reportedly cost the stylist millions in potential earnings.

The lawsuit claims that Hylton’s company had a legally binding agreement with Vado, signed on July 25, 2023, entitling her agency to 20% of the rapper’s earnings. However, just months later, Vado signed a second deal with Beautiful Life Productions, reportedly under pressure from Blige and members of her inner circle.

Hylton further alleges that Blige made repeated attempts to undermine her influence over Vado, including during private yacht parties, hotel meetups, and exclusive industry events. The court filing specifically accuses Blige’s boyfriend — who also serves as her bodyguard — of pressuring Vado to break ties with M.I.S.A Management. Hylton claims he warned the rapper that remaining under her representation would lead to lost opportunities in the music business.

In one of the most damning parts of the complaint, Hylton claims to have obtained private messages allegedly sent by Blige, in which the Grammy-winning artist purportedly threatened to block the release of Vado’s album unless he cut ties with M.I.S.A. Management.

Blige’s Beautiful Life Productions, which Vado joined in October 2023, is also named in the lawsuit. Hylton is seeking $5 million in damages, citing breach of contract, intentional interference with business relationships, and emotional distress.

As of now, neither Mary J. Blige nor representatives from Beautiful Life Productions have issued a public response to the lawsuit.
