During a recent livestream, DJ Akademiks received a surprise call from Lil Durk, who checked in to share an update on his life and mindset while behind bars.
Akademiks made sure to show Durk plenty of love, expressing how much he’s missed and wishing him well for the future.
“I’ve been good, man,” Durk said. “Mentally, spiritually, I’ve been on top of my s***. I’ll be back out there, you hear me?”
After Akademiks mentioned that fans have been praying for him, Durk responded, "Oh, thank you, I need all the prayers. I appreciate you. [...] Ain’t nothing changed, bro. I've just been focused on life, my family, and stuff like that. I’m trying to learn to speak Arabic in here. A couple of guys in here speak it fluently, so I’ve been picking up different words and tightening up my Arabic. Just getting my knowledge together.”
Durk’s call comes as he faces serious legal troubles. He's currently dealing with a murder-for-hire case related to the 2022 Los Angeles shooting that killed Quando Rondo’s cousin, Lul Pab. However, there may be a glimmer of hope: a judge recently approved a motion that could allow Durk to get bond ahead of his trial.
