Azealia Banks, once a vocal supporter of Donald Trump, is now walking back her enthusiasm. The rapper took to Twitter this week to express regret over her vote, calling the current state of American politics under Trump “an absolute disaster.”

“Ok I think it’s time everyone who voted for Trump admit that we made a f***ing mess,” she wrote. “Like this is an absolute disaster.”

Banks has been a controversial and often unpredictable figure in political conversations. In the lead-up to the 2024 election, she briefly considered voting for Kamala Harris after Elon Musk publicly aligned himself with Trump’s campaign. At the time, Banks criticized Musk, saying he "belongs nowhere near American politics. The End.”

Despite her concerns, she ultimately cast her vote for Trump and even shared a photo of her ballot on social media as proof.

Banks has supported Trump since his 2016 run, explaining at the time, “I think Donald Trump is evil like America is evil, and in order for America to keep up with itself, it needs him.” She added bluntly, “It takes s*** to know s***, so we may as well put a piece of s*** in the White House.”

Her stance briefly shifted in 2016 after the release of the infamous “Access Hollywood” tapes, with Banks pulling her support in defense of women’s rights. Still, after Trump’s victory, she reversed course again, saying she was “proud as f***” of his win and even offered to perform at his inauguration.

Banks’ latest comments suggest a deeper disillusionment with the political figure she once championed—and may signal yet another evolution in her ever-changing political views.
