Brian Steel, the high-profile defense attorney known for representing Young Thug in his Atlanta RICO case, has officially filed a motion to join the legal team defending Sean “Diddy” Combs in his ongoing federal case.

The motion was submitted on Tuesday (April 15) in Manhattan federal court, just weeks ahead of a trial set to begin jury selection on May 5. Diddy is currently facing a series of serious federal charges, including sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation for the purpose of engaging in prostitution.

Prosecutors have indicated that the trial will span several weeks, as they prepare to call multiple witnesses — including former associates and alleged victims — to testify. Several accusers claim that Combs used his celebrity status and expansive business empire to manipulate and exploit women. Among the most disturbing allegations are claims that Diddy orchestrated and forced participation in what are described as “freak offs” — sex-fueled parties where coercion and abuse allegedly took place.

Steel’s involvement could mark a significant shift in Diddy's defense strategy. Known for his aggressive and meticulous courtroom style, Steel gained national attention for his work in Young Thug's complex racketeering trial, which similarly involved multiple co-defendants, celebrity ties, and wide-ranging allegations.

Diddy’s next hearing is scheduled for Friday, April 18, when the court is expected to review motions and potentially rule on Steel’s request to formally join the defense team.
