DDG recently sat down with Complex’s Speedy Morman, who asked the rapper about his experience playing basketball with Drake.
Speedy asked, "How'd that go?" To which DDG responded, "He whooped my a**. I ended up losing twice to him."
DDG clarified that they were playing a 1-on-1 game, adding, "I wasn’t really trying to be competitive. I was just trying to bond with my favorite artist." When asked if they bonded, DDG admitted, "Not really. After I lost, we never played again."
DDG also recalled meeting Drake for the first time at Beyoncé’s party, where the Toronto rapper invited him to hoop. On the day they linked up, Drake had already been playing 5-on-5, and DDG arrived late, which led to them playing 1-on-1 instead. DDG explained that had he played seriously, he might have won and the two could have become "homies." He admitted, "I played it wrong."
This interview comes after DDG expressed his loyalty to Drake, especially in light of the rapper’s ongoing beef with Kendrick Lamar. During a livestream, DDG stated, "I could never switch up on Drake as a fan. I just can't. Even if he did something to me personally, I just couldn't. I grew up listening to him. I've been a fan since I was a kid."
He continued, "I could never switch up. I'm just a loyal fan. If I'm a fan of your stuff, I’ll be a fan forever. That’s just how I am. Even if I grow apart from your music, I’ll always be a loyal fan. I ain’t going to switch up on you. A lot of y’all need to take notes from me because some of y’all be switching up. Y’all need to stop that."
