LeBron James recently sat down with Pat McAfee, where he addressed his recent exchange with sports analyst Stephen A. Smith, poking fun at Smith’s extensive media appearances.
"He's like on a Taylor Swift tour run right now," James joked, referring to the analyst's frequent interviews and commentary on the incident. He also pointed out that Smith initially claimed he didn’t want to address the situation—until the video went viral.
James then clarified his stance on media criticism, emphasizing that he has no issue with analysts critiquing players’ performances but takes exception when the commentary becomes personal.
"He completely missed the whole point. Never would I ever not allow people who talk about the sport to criticize players about what they do on the court. That is your job… That is all part of the game. But when you take it and get personal, it’s my job not only to protect my damn household but also to protect the players."
James also couldn’t resist taking another playful jab at Smith, imagining his reaction to the comments.
"I know he’s going to be happy as hell when he hears me talking about him. He’s going to get home, grab some ice cream out of the f—king freezer, and sit in his chair in his tighty-whities on the couch. Relax, bro."
