Hip-hop fans were in for a surprise when the original tracklist for The Notorious B.I.G.'s Life After Death album surfaced online, courtesy of the Instagram page 92 Bricks.
The tracklist appeared on a flier distributed at the album's exclusive listening party in January 1997. At the time, the now-iconic project was originally titled Life After Death… Til Death Do Us Part.
Notably, the unreleased version includes never-before-heard tracks such as "Once Upon a Time" featuring Fat Joe, "Stayin’ Alive," and unnamed songs produced by RZA, Easy Mo Bee, and DJ Clark Kent. Several tracks also underwent name changes before the album's final release—"Comin’ Out" featuring Ma$e was later renamed "Mo Money Mo Problems," "Bones Track" became the Bone Thugs-N-Harmony-assisted "Notorious Thugs," and "Mo Bounce" transformed into "Going Back to Cali."
Fat Joe has previously spoken about his connection to the project. In an interview with VladTV, he revealed that he was close to signing with Bad Boy and even planning a joint album with Biggie. However, those plans shifted when he decided to launch his own label, Terror Squad.
This newly surfaced tracklist gives fans a rare glimpse into the evolution of Life After Death—and a peek at what could have been.
