ABC News released audio recordings on Wednesday, March 12, in which the Jane Doe accusing Jay-Z and Diddy of sexually assaulting her when she was 13 denies the claims. The woman also alleges that her attorney, Tony Buzbee, pressured her into suing Jay-Z.
In the recording, an investigator asks Jane Doe, "He was just there, but he didn't have anything to do with any sexual acts towards you?" to which she responds, "Yeah." She further claims that Buzbee was the one who urged her to move forward with legal action against Jay-Z. When investigators ask, "Buzbee did?" she replies, "Yeah."
Buzbee has since responded, denying the accusations. He told ABC News, "As far as the suggestion that I pushed Jane Doe to bring a case against Jay-Z—that is a blatant lie that is directly contrary to all the documentary evidence."
Jay-Z’s attorney, Alex Spiro, also spoke to ABC News, stating, "She says in no uncertain terms Mr. Carter did not do this. It's effectively a lie, and the only reason Mr. Carter is even involved in this is because she was pushed to involve him."
Jane Doe claims she felt "intimidated and terrified" after investigators knew her name and address. However, Spiro refuted this, stating, "She voluntarily met, spoke to them, and she told them her truth, which was that under no circumstances did Mr. Carter do this."
Spiro added that the situation has been difficult for Jay-Z and his family. "It's tough to hear a false lie said about you, spread through the internet, and affecting your children. It's tough on him. It's tough on anybody. But what he does is he proves himself innocent. Today is hopefully the final chapter in that. And then they're gonna move forward. That's what Jay does."
Jay-Z has now filed a defamation lawsuit against both Tony Buzbee and Jane Doe, which they deny.
