Mike Epps recently stopped by The Breakfast Club to discuss his upcoming projects, which led to questions about the long-awaited final installment of the "Friday" movie franchise.
After years of speculation, Epps confirmed that "Last Friday" is officially in the works, revealing that Ice Cube recently gave him the news. He stated, "Ice Cube called me the other day and said we just finished the deal. So, we doin’ the last 'Friday', man."
Epps went on to praise Ice Cube for his contributions to the industry, saying, "Shoutout to Cube, man. That’s another brother that’s put so many brothers on. Man, this dude put so many— and don’t really get the props for it. Put me, Chris Tucker, Bernie Mac— I mean, name ’em."
When asked if Chris Tucker, who played Smokey in the original "Friday," would be involved in the final installment, Epps admitted he wasn’t sure. However, he made it clear that he hopes Tucker will return to the franchise, stating, "People still love Chris Tucker. He’s still Smokey. He laid it down. Chris, if you’re listening, we need you, baby boy. Come on back."
Last year, Tucker addressed the possibility of reprising his iconic role while speaking with V-103 Atlanta. He explained, "I don’t know. It has to come back right because, like I said, at this point, you know, I’m only doing stuff that I know that I could do my best and I can have a lot of fun. It’s got to be right."
With "Last Friday" finally moving forward, fans are eagerly awaiting more details—including whether Tucker will make his long-awaited return.
