Rapper A$AP Rocky arrived in court on Tuesday (January 21), as jury selection began in his assault case, where he is accused of firing shots at A$AP Relli in November 2021.

According to legal reporter Meghann Cuniff, A$AP Rocky rejected a second plea deal from prosecutors. The offer meant Rocky would have to plead guilty to one assault charge and serve 180 days in county jail with three years probation and a seven-year suspended prison sentence.

The 36-year-old entertainer has pleaded not guilty to two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm. If convicted, A$AP Rocky faces up to 24 years in prison, which Deputy District Attorney John Lewin previously spoke to Judge Mark S. Arnold about in court.

Lewin told Judge Arnold, "Given that the defendant, if he’s convicted, even at midterm, is looking at years in state prison with 2/3s time, we wanted to make sure that before he ends up going to trial, he understands what we would be asking."

A$AP Rocky's attorney,  Joe Tacopina, told reporters at a previous court hearing that he believes A$AP Relli is lying to get money from Rocky.

He added that officers didn’t find shell casings at the scene of the alleged shooting, stating, "The police were very competent in this investigation. I think they did a thorough search, and I think that if there were things there for them to find, they would have found it."
