In 2020, Drakeo The Ruler sat down for a VladTV exclusive where he detailed his rap career and how it was almost completely derailed by a murder case. The rapper talked about his upbringing and how a felony charge at 18 led him further into the streets. A previous acquaintance led him to work with DJ Mustard once he started rapping. However, his refusal to sign with the multi-platinum producer soured the relationship.

He later detailed getting charged with murder and five attempted murder charges stemming from a shooting that was supposedly targeted at fellow LA rapper RJ. Drakeo described his experience while on trial. Despite beating multiple serious charges, the district attorney refiled the charges, and Drakeo eventually made a plea deal despite his innocence. Throughout the rest of the interview, Drakeo discussed adjusting to life outside of prison and what his plans were moving forward.
